President-elect Rodrigo Duterte said on Saturday that he would realign Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) funds towards the health and education.
In a speech he delivered during his election thanksgiving party in Davao City, Duterte said health would be one of the top priorities of his administration.
"I will commit all earnins sa PAGCOR which runs to billions," he said. "[Ibigay] sa mga ospital, para sa ospital at hospitalization."
Duterte also said that he would allot part of the PAGCOR funds to education, aiming to solve the problems of students and teachers.
The president-elect especially wanted to give more access to education to students who live far from their schools in rural areas.
"Dito sa education I will endeavor to build national high schools," he said. "No need to walk 30 km to go to school, ako mismo magdala ng eskuwelahan."
‘I'll kill you’
Duterte also vowed to put a stop to large-scale mining in Mindanao, saying that it affected the Moro people and only benefited businesses from Metro Manila.
"I have big problem with mining companies," he said. "Karamihan ng ginagawa ninyo ngayon puro butas-butas na."
"You are spoiling the land, destroying Mindanao," he added. "Lahat ng mining industry na malaki na sumira sa land natin, they have to stop."
The president-elect also reiterated his position on drugs during his campaign, saying that he would not hesitate to kill offenders.
"Don't take this a joke. Di ako nagpapatawa," he said. "If you destroy the youth of this country, I'll kill you."
