On February 5, GMA News reported the case of a woman who was allegedly raped by her own brother-in-law in front of her children in Minalabac, Camarines Sur.
According to 24 Oras, the mother who was given the name 'Rose' suffers from a speech abnormality. Her brother-in-law gagged her mouth, tied her hands and blindfolded her before he sexually assaulted her inside their house.
Maria's 5-year-old daughter witnessed the crime and reported that her uncle has a machete with him. Due to terrible fear, her mother was unable to fight back.
GMA News said that the victim and her children were currently in the custody of the authorities.
Meanwhile, an investigative show broadcasted hosted by news anchor Mike Enriquez featured Rose's story in their program. Due to R.A. 8353 or The Anti-Rape Law of 1997, the real identities of the victim, the suspect, her huband and her brother-in-law were concealed from the public.
The show aired a vivid description of what happened in the case on March 11, Saturday. Their dramatization shed light on Rose's life before the incident. According to the program, Rose was living a normal and happy life with her husband and children even though they were experiencing financial difficulties.
Her life started to change when 'Crisanto', her brother-in-law, started to sexually assault her. Rose remain silent about the incident. However, after 'Crisanto' assaulted her multiple times, she then realized that it is time for her to speak up for herself and her children.
