Former Commission on Elections (Comelec) chair Sixto Brillantes Jr. is raising a howl over the claim of Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo that she has won the vice presidential race.

Brillantes, the lead counsel of Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for the canvassing of vice presidential votes, said it was “presumptuous” for Robredo to claim victory when Congress has not even convened to sit as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC).

The Congress, as NBOC, canvasses the votes for president and vice president, and proclaims the winners for the two positions.

“How can Robredo claim victory when not a single official canvass document has been opened? Congress has not even convened as canvass body,” Brillantes tweeted on Monday (May 16).

“Now Robredo wants BBM to concede based on alleged small unofficial lead. She cannot be that presumptuous,” he added.
Boyet Dy, head of the Robredo teams policy unit, said it would already be mathematically impossible for Marcos to overcome Robredo’s lead of 257,567 votes even if all certificates from canvass from towns which have yet to transmit results were accounted for.

The administration’s vice presidential candidate even urged her supporters to refrain from engaging bashers on social media since it is apparent that she already won in the May 9 elections.

Although she ran under LP, Brillantes said Robredo’s running mate, Mar Roxas, was not as presumptuous as she appears to be when he campaigned for the vice presidency in 2010.

Roxas lost to Vice President Jejomar Binay.

“Robredo’s partner Roxas lost by more than 700 thousand votes as VP. He never conceded. Even after official count by Congress,” Brillantes said.
